The Museum of Sonoma County maintains a permanent collection of over 18,000 objects, documenting the region's rich history and celebrating local artists. Rotated selections from the permanent collection can be viewed in the mezzanine gallery in the Historic Post Office Building. Collection highlights include:

• Christo and Jeanne-Claude: The Tom Golden Collection (Traveling Exhibition)

• Fountaingrove

• Santa Rosa's Chinatown (Song Wong Bourbeau Collection)

• 19th and 20th Century Landscape Paintings by William Keith, Thomas Hill, Elizabeth Hoen, R. G. Holdredge, John Marshall Gamble, and others

• Fire Collection: 2017 Tubbs Fire (The Fire Project)

• Works by Marguerite Wildenhain

• Works by Carroll Barnes
