This mural was created by local artist Joshua Lawyer who works in collaboration with his wife and partner MJ Lindo-Lawyer. When a Tree Falls deals with the issues of trauma and isolation felt in our community during the first two years of the COVID 19 pandemic and seeks to represent a feeling of hope and healing for the future. This mural was created in collaboration with community members who visited the museum during the creation to paint individual flowers that have been placed alongside the mural in the museum’s window gallery. These flowers represent the hopes and dreams of Sonoma County and will be on display for the duration of the year.
