End of the Year Message from Our Board Chair, Richard Tempero

Dear Friends of the Museum,

During my five years on the Board of Directors, the past four as Chair, there have been many progressive changes at the Museum of Sonoma County. Jeff Nathanson was hired as our Executive Director in the fall of 2017 and is leading the Museum in a bold new direction.

Presently I would emphasize the word “with” to describe the Museum’s activities. Our education programs work with local schools and community organizations to provide docent tours and hands-on art instruction to thousands of students. Our exhibition program coordinates exhibition themes with content experts to present exhibitions that are inclusive, educational, and relevant. In the community, we are actively participating with groups responding to the fires, Santa Rosa downtown planning, and others. We appreciate working with Creative Sonoma as that organization fortifies and support the arts in our county.

As I step down as Board Chair, I am pleased to say the new officers will bring years of Museum expertise, sound judgement, and leadership. I could not be more pleased to be on the Board with the new officers.

The future of our Museum is bright. In the year to come, we will enhance our outreach in Sonoma County and the North Bay. We will seek more participation, representation, and ways for the Museum to serve our community. As a private non-profit organization, we depend on the generosity of our friends and members to carry out our mission. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to our Annual Fund to support the Museum’s bright future.

From all of us at the Museum of Sonoma County, thank you for your generous support. Happy holidays and best wishes for 2020!

Thank you,
Richard Tempero
Chair, Board of Directors
